KXCR December 2020 Newsletter

We have Exciting News for you all

Dear Friends and KXCR listeners,

It certainly has been a difficult past year for everyone! It has forced us to sit back, reflect and find innovative options to get over the hurdles that have been thrown at us on a daily basis for the past 9 months. For many, every day is a struggle just to keep going. For KXCR, to find funding during these challenging times for projects has been a very difficult task. We have sometimes come out of meetings with our spirits knocked. But we refuse to let that get the better of us and have managed to keep positive for the good of KXCR and our community!

KXCR thrives to provide you with some incredible programs! We are proud of our Program Director, our board members and extraordinary team of volunteers, our SCSEP interns and how they have risen to this challenge with flexibility, resilience and courage.

My dear friends and KXCR listeners, do look after yourselves and your families. Together, we will get through this! So, to all of you, KXCR wishes you a healthy and peaceful holiday. Remember that KXCR exists because of our wonderful sponsors and your continued support.

Stay positive but test negative! With heartfelt gratitude,

Gigi Lassan, President, KXCR, 90.7FM

KXCR 2021 - 2024 Strategic Plan KXCR 90.7 FM believes in the power of public radio to create a strong and connected community. As a part of this vision, the KXCR board members embarked on a strategic planning effort to take stock of where we are as an organization and to look to our future. The completed KXCR strategic plan will be available to view at kxcr.net in January of 2021. A Big thanks goes out to Russ Pierson, Dean of LCC in Florence, for his guidance and generosity in helping us to embark on the creation of this plan. Also thank you to Margy Parker and Associates, LLC Strategic Communication and former faculty member in UO School of Journalism and Communication.

New KXCR Board Members KXCR 90.7 is pleased to announce the election of three new members to its board of directors. Joining the board are Steve Webster, Kathy Skelly and Jerry Schneider. Their unique backgrounds and diverse experience will make them a great asset to the KXCR organization.

Our New Sign is Up! Thanks to Lane County Cultural Coalition, we received a grant for $2,500.00, allowing us to design, build and install this great new and very visible sign. We are extremely thankful to them. Thanks also to ProLumber, who donated all the materials and to Wyll Greenewood for installing it free of charge.

New Shows Coming Soon! We are pleased to announce an innovative medical program called Medical Monday, beginning in the New Year. Signs, symptoms and treatment of an eclectic group of body/mind diseases will be presented by MD’s, therapists and other health professionals.

We are also working on a new half hour Sunday meditation show hosted by Frances Klippel, healer, practitioner of energy medicine and more! Click on Frances for a link!

Community Conversations is a favorite of listeners. Larry Bloomfield, our dedicated program director, talks with people from all walks of life from your neighborhood and mine, as they tell their interesting stories. Tune in this week for tips on traveling during the holiday.

The “Fireside Chat”, hosted by Senator Arnie Roblan, was a huge success. Every Tuesday, for 28 consecutive weeks, Oregonians shared ideas with our regional and statewide officials on the challenges and opportunities during the Coronavirus pandemic.

“In the Running”, another fabulous show hosted by Jerry Schneider, interviewed every City Council candidate running during this past election. This was another excellent addition and allowed listeners to hear from all sides. You can hear Jerry’s show, Featured Artist, on KXCR.net as well as on Soundcloud, where his shows are archived.

Did you all know about Soundcloud? Many of our DJ’s use this to archive all their past shows, so if you missed one, you can simply go to www.Soundcloud.com and type in KXCR, Coast Radio Official Station. You will find hundreds of our archived shows!

From all of us at KXCR, we want to thank you for being a huge part of our station, for listening, for contributing, for volunteering. We wish you happy holidays and look forward to being the station you tune to in the coming year.
